To say that I’m excited about my brand updates would be an understatement. I’m getting back to what I planned to do with this blog several years ago, and I’ve done a slight shift to better align with the things that are closest to my heart, and most important to me.
I don’t JUST want to be an author success advocate, y’all. That’s only part of what I’m about. I am an author who struggles with mental (and physical) health issues on a daily basis. Something that’s really important to me — actually, it’s THE most important thing — is finding a way to have a successful author career without setting your mental (and physical) health on fire in the process.
In the past, I’ve been the kind of person who pushes herself WAY too hard in the pursuit of hitting my writing goals, and it did terrible things to my mental and physical health in the process. I was basically torturing myself for not being neurotypical, and it wrecked me.
Just to give you a frame of reference on the issues I deal with on a daily basis, here’s a quick list.
- ADHD
- Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
- Insulin Resistance
- Type II Bipolar
(However, I suspect that the Type II Bipolar diagnosis is actually a mistaken diagnosis because treating my PCOS pretty much cured my Type II Bipolar symptoms, so I believe the issue was really hormonal all along and this diagnosis was incorrect.)
I was miserable AND unproductive until I figured out how to take my mental and physical health issues into account and adapt my writing life to how my brain and body work.
I’m going to be bringing you posts and resources to help you adapt your writing life to how your brain and body work, too, so you’re not accidentally turning your mental and physical health into a dumpster fire without realizing that’s what’s going on.
Talk to you again soon, guys!
xoxo
Chelsea
